An ecosystem forclinical Arabic communication
Gulf Clinical Arabic is a practical learning ecosystem for healthcare professionals working in the Gulf. It combines three books, a free book sample, a community and GCA: First Shift — an interactive clinical Arabic experience.
The focus is recognition and practical communication rather than grammar study: greetings and reception, pain and symptoms, mobility, pre- and post-operative communication, treatment instructions, family communication and safety.
Why it exists
Healthcare teams in the Gulf are international, while many patients and their families are most comfortable in Gulf Arabic. A few well-chosen phrases change how safe and respected a patient feels.
Everything is built to be used in short bursts inside a working day — small units of practice that fit between patients, not a language course.
Author
Andrzej “Andrew” Sulimierski, MSc Physiotherapy
DHA-licensed Senior Physiotherapist with over 20 years of international experience across Poland, Germany, the United States, and the UAE. He graduated with a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy in Warsaw in 2005 and earned a diploma in Healthcare Management from the Warsaw School of Economics in 2006. He spent 2008 on an extended clinical placement in Vallejo, California, where he completed Level 5 functional training in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).
Based in Dubai since 2009, Andrew has worked in neurological rehabilitation, orthopaedics, MSK care, post-operative recovery, and aviation-related healthcare. He has held senior leadership roles, including Head of a hospital physiotherapy department. From 2010 to 2016, he ran a medical tourism company active across the Gulf, promoting Poland as a medical tourism destination. In 2015, he founded the Polish Medical Platform in the GCC, connecting Polish healthcare professionals across the region.
He has authored physiotherapy publications in Polish and English and presented at regional conferences on physiotherapy, neurology, orthopaedics, and medical tourism. Outside clinical practice, he is passionate about sport, outdoor activities, and community building.
Review panel
Language and clinical content are reviewed and powered by ideas from native Gulf Arabic speakers, language specialists, and healthcare professionals actively working with patients and licensed in the Gulf region, helping the phrasing stay natural at the bedside and accurate on the page.
The review and contributor group has supported the project across clinical relevance, language accuracy, pronunciation, cultural appropriateness, learner accessibility and practical use in real healthcare communication.
The panel was led by Andrzej "Andrew" Sulimierski - Polish physiotherapist treating Emirati patients in Dubai since 2009.
